Community Work in Africa

Service to mankind is above religion, caste, race and location. Realizing the need to reach out to maximum number of people, Rotary Eye Institute transcended all boundaries. So, apart from providing service to people living in the remote areas of Gujarat and other parts of India, it decided to expand its footprints by going global to countries like Nigeria and Ghana.

Since 2005, Rotary Eye Institute has been regularly providing eye care services through free screening and surgical eye camps in Nigeria. REI has been getting continuous support from various Rotary Clubs, Non-profit organizations, Local Companies and Indian community. Till March 2014, REI has made total 10 visits – almost 1 visit per year, covering 5 states in Nigeria. During these 10 visits, we have screened more than 100,000 patients, operated 11,151 patients and distributed 10,600 spectacles to needy patients.
